Hearing loss affects many people in the United States

There are many people who are unaware that their environment can be the cause of their gradual loss of hearing. When one is exposed to certain types of noises for long periods of time hearing loss can occur. Noises such as loud machinery on the job, noise from traffic, loud car radios, loud headphones. These types of noises can all cause hearing loss. Not all types of hearing loss is permanent there are some types of hearing loss that are temporary or reversable.

Many older adults have hearing loss due to aging, however any hearing loss due to aging is permanent, but can be mild to severe. Many who experience hearing loss can benefit from ear digital hearing aids. A hearing aid is an electronic device that increases sound in order for one to hear. Quite a few people decide not to use a hearing aid to assist them, for fear of looking old. The stigma behind wearing a hearing aid is something that many don’t wish to deal with. Hearing loss can be caused by other factors.

Factors that can cause a hearing loss could be injury to the inner or middle ear. Certain diseases can also cause hearing loss. Diseases such as mumps, measels, HIV, and chlamydia. Often times hearing can be corrected. These cases include hearing loss due to colds, infections, or allergies which can cause fluid in the ear or other causes such as earwax, or objects in the ear.
